Immerse is an ongoing project incorporating still, moving image and sound. A study that aims to explore a specifically female physical and psychological relationship with the sea.
Beginning as a purely photographic project, this work has demanded that I return to my dance film roots.
I swim amongst the women, relying on tide, time and light to expose the images. I use slow motion footage to expand time and conjure an invitation to study the poetic movement of the body in an amniotic world.
The series/film continues to explore a mysterious subaquatic environment that plays with surface, depth and inversion, expressing the beauty and symbolism of water immersion.
Some of the images you will see here are video stills.
